Week 3 Nov 1-5
In September 2021, Brier Island received a much greater than average rainfall and the runoff, along with coastal tidal flooding, caused the area near the trailhead to be under a metre or more of water.
In August 2021, BITC received a Trail Maintenance Grant from the provincial government’s Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. Part of this grant was used to purchase stones to complete Phase One.
On November 3, volunteers, including our O2 students, were at the Trailhead to fill buckets, pull wagons, lift and pass the buckets to the individuals under the bridge to fill the 30 black bridge post supports with 4" to 8" rocks! Although the weather wasn't great when we started, the sun eventually did shine.
Again Lisa Clark has done her magic in recording the week's activity. The photo of the flooding was taken by Brian Bowerman.
